AION 2 Lowest Input Lag Settings: Reflex, V-Sync and Display Mode
Published
On this page
The lowest input lag in AION 2 comes from four settings: Vertical Sync off, NVIDIA Reflex on (Boost), frame generation off, and an upscaler like DLSS to raise your real FPS. For a clean refresh rate and direct display control, test Fullscreen instead of Borderless Windowed. Everything else on this page is Windows or hardware setup that shortens the path from click to pixel.

AION 2 is an MMORPG, so input lag matters less than in a shooter, but it is real in Abyss PvP, timed skill rotations and boss mechanics, where the delay between pressing a skill and seeing it fire decides fights.
AION 2 settings for the lowest input lag
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Vertical Sync | Off | V-Sync buffers frames and adds latency |
| NVIDIA Reflex | On / Boost | Shortens the render queue |
| Frame Generation | Off | Interpolated frames raise FPS, not responsiveness |
| Upscaler | DLSS Quality or Balanced (or FSR) | Raises real FPS, which lowers frame time |
| Display Mode | Fullscreen (test vs Borderless) | Direct control of refresh rate and VSync |
| Resolution | Native | Let the upscaler do the work |
| Mass Combat / Shadow Quality | Low | Keeps crowd frame time low |
Why frame generation hurts competitive play
Frame generation inserts extra frames between real ones. Your displayed FPS goes up, but your game only reads input at the real frame rate, so the game feels no more responsive and typically a little worse. The same applies to frame generation in general. In AION 2, leave it off for PvP and bosses, and use the DLSS and FSR settings to raise real FPS instead.
Reflex, Anti-Lag and FPS caps
- NVIDIA: turn on Reflex in the game. See should you turn on NVIDIA Reflex.
- AMD and Intel: use Anti-Lag or XeLL in the driver where available; see Reflex vs Anti-Lag vs XeLL.
- FPS cap: the Global client reportedly has no standalone limiter. A cap a few FPS below your refresh rate in your GPU’s control panel keeps pacing steady. See the best FPS cap for low latency.
- G-SYNC / FreeSync: set it up correctly instead of using in-game V-Sync: G-SYNC, V-Sync and Reflex setup.
Windows and hardware steps
- Raise real FPS first. Frame time is the biggest part of your delay. Start with the best AION 2 settings for FPS.
- Use a 144 Hz or higher display if you have one, and set the refresh rate in Windows.
- Check your timer resolution. Windows timer resolution affects frame pacing and input handling; the timer resolution guide explains how to set it, and Tier1Timer does it in one click.
- Turn off mouse acceleration and use a polling rate of 1000 Hz.
- Keep overlays off while playing. Each hook adds a little overhead.

Frequently asked questions
What are the lowest input lag settings for AION 2?
Turn Vertical Sync off, enable NVIDIA Reflex (Boost in AION 2), turn frame generation off, use DLSS or FSR to raise base FPS, and play in Fullscreen if you want direct control over refresh rate and VSync. Keep your base FPS well above your refresh rate and avoid GPU-maxed scenes, since a saturated GPU adds queued frames.
Does frame generation add input lag in AION 2?
Yes, a small amount. Generated frames are interpolated, so your real input rate does not rise even though displayed FPS does. For competitive Abyss play, keep frame generation off and use an upscaler such as DLSS to raise real FPS instead.
Should I use NVIDIA Reflex in AION 2?
Yes on any NVIDIA GPU. Reflex keeps the render queue short, which lowers system latency, especially when the GPU is the bottleneck. AION 2 offers it as a setting, with Boost as the aggressive option.
Is Fullscreen or Borderless lower latency in AION 2?
AION 2's Borderless Windowed mode is convenient and generally follows the monitor's refresh behavior, while Fullscreen gives the most direct control over resolution, refresh rate and VSync. If you want the lowest latency and a clean refresh rate, test Fullscreen with Vertical Sync off.
Does the Global AION 2 client have an FPS limiter?
Guides report the Global client does not provide a traditional standalone FPS limiter. If you want a cap for steadier frame pacing, set one in your GPU's control panel or with a tool such as RTSS, ideally a few FPS below your refresh rate with Reflex on.
