Monster Hunter Wilds is demanding, and Capcom’s own requirements assume you’ll use frame generation to hit the listed frame rates. Here’s what you actually need to run it well, plus the optimizations that make the biggest difference on the RE Engine.

This targets roughly 1080p/30 FPS at Lowest settings with upscaling and frame generation enabled. Without frame gen, expect lower numbers.

This targets around 1080p/60 FPS at Medium with upscaling (Quality) and frame generation on.
For smooth high-FPS play (1440p / high refresh)

- Graphics: RTX 4070 Ti / RX 7900 XT or better
- Memory: 32 GB RAM with XMP/EXPO enabled
- Storage: NVMe SSD
- Use DLSS/FSR Quality + Frame Generation, drop Volumetric Fog and Shadows
Wilds is sensitive to CPU and memory bandwidth thanks to its huge environments, so a strong CPU and fast RAM matter as much as the GPU.
Performance optimization tips
If you meet the specs but still struggle:
- Enable DLSS/FSR/XeSS Quality and Frame Generation — the requirements assume both.
- Drop Volumetric Fog and Shadow Quality first.
- Match Texture Quality to your VRAM to avoid stutter (8 GB → Medium).
- Install on an NVMe SSD to reduce traversal hitching.
- Enable XMP/EXPO for memory bandwidth.
- Update GPU drivers and let shaders compile after each patch.

Storage recommendations
Wilds requires around 75 GB and an SSD is mandatory for acceptable performance. An NVMe SSD noticeably reduces traversal stutter and load times versus SATA. A hard drive is not viable.
