Roblox Stretched Resolution Guide: How to Get Stretched Res in Roblox
Published
On this page
Roblox players on lower-end PCs and in aim-heavy FPS experiences love stretched res for wider models and more FPS — but Roblox has no in-game resolution picker. The client just renders at your window or desktop size, so you get stretched res by setting a custom stretched desktop resolution and forcing full-panel GPU scaling, then running Roblox fullscreen. This guide shows you exactly how on NVIDIA and AMD.

Stretched is a preference — wider models and a zoomed feel. Test it against native 16:9 and keep whatever your aim is more consistent with.
Roblox has no resolution menu
Open Roblox settings and you’ll notice there’s no resolution slider — because there isn’t one. Roblox renders at the size of its window when windowed, or at your current desktop resolution when fullscreen (toggle fullscreen with F11). That means the way to stretch Roblox isn’t in the game at all: it’s in your GPU driver and Windows display settings.
Popular Roblox stretched resolutions
| Resolution | Aspect | Feel |
|---|---|---|
| 1280 x 960 | 4:3 | Classic stretched, widest models, big FPS gain |
| 1440 x 1080 | 4:3 | Sharper 4:3, still wide |
| 1600 x 900 | 16:9 | Lower-res, no stretch, pure FPS boost |
1280 x 960 is the classic 4:3 stretched choice. If you only want extra FPS without the stretched look, a lower 16:9 like 1600 x 900 keeps the correct aspect.
Step 1 – Force full-panel GPU scaling
NVIDIA
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel → Adjust desktop size and position.
- Scaling mode: Full-screen.
- Perform scaling on: GPU.
- Tick Override the scaling mode set by games and programs and Apply.
AMD
- Open AMD Software → Settings → Display.
- Set GPU Scaling: On.
- Set Scaling Mode: Full Panel.
If your 4:3 resolution isn’t available yet, create it first via Create Custom Resolution (NVIDIA) or Custom Resolutions (AMD). For a monitor-level method, see How To Get Custom Resolution / Stretch Res.
Step 2 – Set your desktop to the stretched resolution
Because Roblox follows your desktop resolution in fullscreen, the reliable method is to set the desktop itself to a stretched custom resolution:
- Make sure your custom resolution (e.g.
1280 x 960) exists from Step 1. - Right-click the desktop → Display settings → set Display resolution to
1280 x 960. - With full-panel GPU scaling on, the whole desktop now stretches to fill the screen.
Setting the desktop to a stretched custom resolution is what guarantees Roblox stretches, since the client simply adopts whatever the desktop is doing in fullscreen. A one-click tool that creates the custom resolution and sets full-panel scaling for you makes this painless instead of digging through driver menus.
Step 3 – Run Roblox in fullscreen
- Launch a Roblox experience.
- Press F11 to go fullscreen (windowed mode will not stretch).
- Roblox adopts the stretched desktop resolution and the GPU fills the screen — wider models, no black bars.
For windowed play you can instead run a smaller window, but the desktop-resolution method is the cleanest way to get a true stretched image.
Still seeing black bars / not stretching?
Almost always one of these:
- Roblox is in windowed mode instead of fullscreen — press F11.
- GPU scaling is off, or set to aspect ratio instead of full-screen/full panel.
- Your monitor’s own OSD scaling is overriding the GPU — set the monitor aspect/scaling to Full.
- A driver update reset your scaling — re-check after GPU driver updates.

Roblox won’t stretch on its own because it has no resolution menu — it just follows your desktop. Create a stretched custom desktop resolution, force full-panel GPU scaling, and run Roblox in fullscreen, and you get the classic wide-model stretched look plus the FPS that comes with rendering fewer pixels.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get stretched resolution in Roblox?
Create a custom 4:3 or lower desktop resolution such as 1280x960, set your GPU to full-panel scaling (NVIDIA: Full-screen with Perform scaling on GPU and Override the scaling mode set by games; AMD: GPU Scaling On with Scaling Mode Full Panel), set your Windows desktop to that resolution, then run Roblox in fullscreen by pressing F11. Roblox adopts the desktop resolution in fullscreen, so the GPU stretches the image to fill the screen.
Does Roblox have a resolution setting?
No. Roblox has no in-game resolution picker. The client simply renders at the size of its window when windowed, or at your current desktop resolution when fullscreen. That's why stretched res in Roblox is done at the GPU and desktop level rather than in a game menu — there is no slider to change.
Is stretched resolution bannable in Roblox?
No. Stretched resolution is GPU driver display scaling plus a custom desktop resolution — it is not a modification of any Roblox game file and does not inject code into the client. You are only telling Windows and your GPU how to scale the output image, which is the same display feature used across countless games.
Does stretched res boost FPS in Roblox?
Usually, yes. A resolution like 1280x960 renders far fewer pixels than native 1080p, so on GPU-limited and lower-end PCs you typically gain a meaningful FPS boost on top of the wider models. Roblox experiences vary in how demanding they are, so the exact gain depends on the game and your hardware, but fewer pixels almost always helps frame rate.
Why isn't Roblox stretching after I set a custom resolution?
The most common cause is running Roblox in windowed mode instead of fullscreen — press F11 to go fullscreen so it adopts the desktop resolution. If it still shows black bars, your GPU scaling is off or set to aspect ratio, or your monitor's own OSD scaling is overriding the GPU. Set GPU scaling to full panel and the monitor scaling to Full.
